Chocolate Easter Treats

Chocolate Easter Treats – my goodness I must apologise for these pages arriving so close to easter. The last month has just whizzed by and I was beginning to think I would have nothing to inspire you this easter!

In fact I am still hoping to have new ideas for chocolate covered strawberries just for easter but at the moment they are still in my head. So come back to the site in a few days and they should be there. I will put them under my Easter Chocolate and my Chocolate Strawberries sections.

What’s New – Delicious Easter Chocolate Recipes.

My easter chocolate recipes are just like all my recipes - variations on the successful chocolate recipes you are already familiar with. They would all look spectacular all wrapped up in an easter basket as your easter chocolate gifts for this year.

I am hoping that my new variations of chocolate easter cupcakes, chocolate truffles and even hot cross chocolate chip cookies will inspire you. The chocolate truffles are particularly delicious filled with easter fruit and spices and they even have a little white chocolate cross on top.

Take a peek here for the recipe ideas.

New Chocolate Slice Recipes

I have another new addition to my site. I have started building a chocolate slice recipe collection.

I have begun with the old fashion favourites and as you can see from the photographs I have given chocolate peppermint slice and chocolate caramel slice a mini make-over.

I have of course also included the original recipes.

Chocolate Quote Addition

Yes I have found another chocolate quote to add to my pages.

“stress would not be so hard to take if it was CHOCOLATE coated”.

OK I am one off from having 50 CHOCOLATE QUOTES. So if you have a favourite that you would like to share then check first that it is not already on my list and please please send it to me so that I can include it and have a mini celebration at reaching 50!

Have you tried Chocolate Tea?

Chocolate Tea! I must admit if this is something you have never drunk before then you might think I have taken my chocolate obsession too far!

Even I had to think twice but when you think about all the beautiful flavoured teas we drink now days it starts to make sense. We don’t even think twice about combining chocolate and coffee.

Subscribers only recipe – Hot Cross Easter Chocolate Pudding.

This is a decadent version of a bread and butter pudding, which uses hot cross buns and lots of chocolate - a definite improvement on the old bread, butter and sultanas. It is definitely worth making this indulgence even if only once a year.

If you like try using the chocolate chip easter buns that are very popular. Caramel filled mini easter eggs can also be substituted for the dark chocolate, just cut them in half.

If you do not want to use the orange juice concentrate then add one teaspoon of vanilla essence.

Ingredients

  • 5 hot cross buns, sliced into four
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 250g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 6 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice concentrate - optional
  • icing sugar to dust

Preheat the oven to 180oC. Grease and line the base and sides of a 20cm round cake pan. Cut the paper slightly higher than the top of the tin to protect the pudding during baking.

Lightly toast the slices of hot cross bun. Butter on one side.

Whisk together the eggs, cream, milk, sugar and orange juice.

Using half of the buttered slices dip into the egg mixture and layer into the base of the cake pan in an overlapping spiral pattern and fill the center. Sprinkle over half of the chocolate, tucking in under the slices. Spiral the remaining slices and sprinkle with remaining chocolate. Press down slightly. Pour the rest of egg mixture over the bread and stand for ten minutes.

Place the cake pan on a baking tray. Bake for 70 minutes or until set. You may need to loosely cover the top with foil half way through baking to stop the pudding picking up too much colour. Leave to cool in the pan before removing. Dust with icing sugar to serve.

I almost do not dare suggest this but from my own experience adding my chocolate glaze as a sauce and of course a good dollop of whipped cream will take this chocolate easter indulgence to a whole new level!

Comments? Ideas? Feedback? I'd love to hear from you. Just reply to this easter chocolate e-zine and tell me what you think! I am already planning the next issue. I don’t think it will be too hard to come up with more Chocolate Inspirations.

Enjoy and have a Chocolate Filled Easter - homemade of course!
Bye for now,

Michelle
